Dr. Marco A. Palma is a Professor of Agricultural Economics at Texas A&M University and Director of the Human Behavior Laboratory. A leading expert in behavioral and experimental economics, neuroeconomics, and food economics, his research explores how human behavior influences economic and health-related decisions. He has authored over 100 peer-reviewed publications and secured more than $117 million in research funding from agencies including USDA, NSF, and industry.

Dr. Marco A. Palma is a Professor in the Department of Agricultural Economics and Director of the Human Behavior Laboratory at Texas A&M University. He also serves as Interim Associate Director for Responsive Agriculture at the Institute for Advancing Health through Agriculture. An internationally recognized scholar, Dr. Palma’s expertise lies in behavioral and experimental economics, neuroeconomics, and food economics — with a focus on understanding how human decision-making and psychological factors influence human behavior, food choices, sustainability, and economic behavior.
His work has appeared in leading journals including the Journal of Economic Behavior & Organization, American Journal of Agricultural Economics, Games and Economic Behavior, Journal of Neuroscience, Food Policy, and many others. With over $117 million in competitive research funding and numerous national awards, Dr. Palma has been recognized for advancing interdisciplinary science that bridges economics, neuroscience, and behavioral insights.
He is also an Associate Editor for the American Journal of Agricultural Economics, the Journal of Economic Behavior & Organization, Southern Economic Journal, and the Journal of Agricultural and Resource Economics. He serves on multiple national scientific committees, including service to the U.S. National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine.
