Steve Whitesell is Head of Research & Technology for Healthy Green Spaces Coalition and CEO of Radian Developers, a climate technology firm specializing in software, data analytics, research, and communications focused on outdoor water use and irrigation performance.

In his role with The Valve, Whitesell oversees the research and editorial development of data-driven reports and analysis on turf health, irrigation efficiency, outdoor water use, and landscape performance. His work helps translate complex irrigation and landscape data into clear, practical insights for water agencies, municipalities, nonprofits, industry partners, and the public.

With more than two decades of experience in software development and environmental data systems, Whitesell has led the creation of visualization platforms and custom applications that help organizations understand, manage, and improve water use across residential and commercial landscapes. His work has supported irrigation auditing, water-use benchmarking, conservation reporting, and performance measurement for turf and green spaces.

Whitesell brings a systems-thinking approach to the Coalition’s research and editorial work, connecting data, technology, policy, and on-the-ground landscape management. Through The Valve, he helps ensure research is not only accurate and credible, but also useful to the people making decisions about healthy green spaces, efficient irrigation, and long-term sustainability.
